Joel Dommett received the Best Newcomer award and was a finalist in the Stand Up Comedian of the Year competition in 2008, following his initial stand-up performances across international stages including Los Angeles, Reykjavík, and the Netherlands. His comedic talent gained wider recognition after an appearance on ‘Russell Howard’s Good News’ in April 2011. Dommett also developed his acting career concurrently, portraying Jonathon Hansell in ‘Casualty’ (2004), appearing in ‘The Golden Hour’ (2005), playing Josh in ‘Teenage Kicks’ (2008), and taking on a role in the 2008 feature film ‘The Edge of Love’. Dommett’s television career significantly advanced with roles such as DC Sweeney in E4’s acclaimed series ‘Skins’ in 2010, appearing in three episodes, and in all six episodes of ‘Popatron’ the same year.
In 2023, he was confirmed to host the BBC’s revival of the global hit format ‘Survivor’ and also began presenting the ITV game show ‘In With a Shout’. Demonstrating his commitment beyond entertainment, Dommett became an official patron for Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in 2023.
