The outrageous John 5, aka John William Lowery, has become one of the most in-demand guitar players on the planet. As well as a guitarist for hire, he has shared the stage as axe-man for Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and Rob Halford. He has also worked with an impressive array of names, including KD Lang, Rod Stewart, Dave Lee Roth, Mötley Crüe, Meat Loaf, and Alice Cooper. His debut solo album, Vertigo, was released in 2004, and since then he has released a further eight albums, plus three more as John 5 and The Creatures.
Born and raised in Michigan, John’s love for music began aged seven when his parents bought him his first guitar. They encouraged him as he began playing in bars and clubs, and John formed his first band, Dirty Trixx, soon after, and they went on to win a Battle of the Bands competition. He then formed Vampirella at High School and started experimenting with his on-stage persona. At 18, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a session guitarist, and he was soon working with the legendary Lita Ford opening up for KISS, with former Ozzy Osbourne drummer Randy Castillo, and with K.D.Lang. His career flourished when he teamed up with Rob Halford and formed the industrial/classic rock band, 2wo. Following this, he worked with Dave Lee Roth, and in 1998 he was invited to play with Marilyn Manson. In 2004 John began concentrating on his solo career, releasing his debut album, Vertigo, the same year. Then in 2006, he was invited to join Rob Zombie for a short Ozzfest tour. Since then he has co-written all of Zombie’s studio albums since Educated Horses, as well as composing the score for his 2013 movie, The Lords Of Salem.
John regularly connects with his hundreds of thousands of fans and followers through Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, posting pictures and videos of his life in and out of the recording studio. He also has a YouTube channel, John 5, and an official website, john-5.com.
