United Kingdom John Gimson is an Olympic silver medallist and multiple World and European champion in sailing, specializing in the Nacra 17 multi-hull class.
Musto became a global partner to the Youth Sailing World Championship, the Hempel World Cup Series and Final, and the Hempel Offshore World Championship. Musto also renewed its contract with the British Sailing Team as Official Clothing Supplier.

John Gimson, born on March 11, 1983, in Leicester, England, has established a notable career in sailing. His early years in the sport included achieving silver medals at both World and European Championships in youth categories. He later made an appearance at the America’s Cup in 2013 and spent eight years competing in keelboats. A significant turning point in his career occurred after 2012 when the Star class, in which he had served as a tuning partner for Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson in preparation for the London Games, was removed as an Olympic event. This led to his transition to the Nacra 17 class. Gimson resides in Congleton, Cheshire, and his home sailing clubs include Rudyard Lake Sailing Club and Royal Thames Yacht Club.
Gimson transitioned into the Nacra 17 class, forming a partnership with Anna Burnet. This collaboration proved successful, culminating in a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The duo also secured three World Championship titles in the Nacra 17 class (2020, 2021, 2025) and three European Championship titles (2021, 2023, 2025). Their Tokyo 2020 silver medal marked a historical achievement for Great Britain, being the first medal won in the Mixed Foiling Nacra 17 discipline since its introduction at Rio 2016, and the first British medal in a multi-hull class since Montreal 1976. This partnership extended beyond the sport, as Gimson and Burnet married after the Tokyo Games.
Following their Olympic success, Gimson and Burnet continued to perform at a high level. They earned another World Championship silver medal in 2023. At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, they finished fourth in the Nacra 17 Foiling event, narrowly missing a second Olympic medal. Gimson’s career demonstrates sustained excellence and adaptability within competitive sailing, from his youth achievements to his significant contributions at the Olympic and World Championship levels. Outside of sailing, Gimson has expressed an interest in winging and noted that he grew up on a herb farm and can operate a forklift truck.
