Emil Jarudd

Emil Roland Hugo Järudd was born on April 27, 1998, in Stockholm, Sweden. He developed an early interest in sailing, spending significant time on the Baltic waters near his hometown of Gothenburg. His initial years in the sport were marked by consistent participation and skill development in various youth classes. Jarudd’s dedication to sailing was evident through his active competition in numerous regattas.

Jarudd’s competitive career began in youth sailing, where he competed in the Optimist World Championship in 2011 and 2012, achieving an 8th-place finish in 2012. He then transitioned to the 29er class, participating in the 2014 ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships and again securing an 8th-place position. These early successes established his potential in the sport. His career progression led him to the Olympic stage, representing Sweden in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics in the Nacra 17 event, where he and his partner Cecilia Jonsson ranked 14th. He later earned a bronze medal at the 2023 Sailing World Championships in the Nacra 17 class alongside Hanna Jonsson.

In addition to his athletic pursuits, Jarudd is pursuing higher education. He is a student of industrial engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. His involvement in the sport continues, as he was selected to represent Sweden with Hanna Jonsson in the Nacra 17 event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where they finished 10th. Jarudd’s activities also include mentoring younger sailors and promoting the growth of sailing at a grassroots level within Sweden.
