John Hannah is an accomplished Scottish actor best known for his award-winning performance of Matthew in the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral. Originally from East Kilbride, the actor was active on UK television before his breakthrough role in 1994. For his performance in the film, Hannah won a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting role and rapidly came to the limelight.
Following, Hannah became involved in various TV shows, most prominently as Dr Iain McCallum in McCallum from 1995 to 1998. Other series include Out of the Blue, Sliding Doors, Rebus, MDs and Frasier. During this time, Hannah also starred in various high-profile films, most importantly, in The Mummy trilogy between 1999 and 2008. Between these years, he also starred in Before You Go, I Accuse and Ghost Son, among many others. A talented TV actor, Hannah continued to be involved in various series, quickly becoming an attractive actor in the United States. After starring in various UK series such as New Street Law and Cold Blood, Hannah began appearing in American series such as Spartacus, Atlantic and Elementary. In 2016, Hannah took a recurring role in the hit series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, starring in a total of 27 episodes.
