Walker Johnny da Silva Barra de Souza, known professionally as Johnny Walker, was born on March 30, 1992, in Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He embarked on his professional mixed martial arts career in December 2013. In his early career, competing primarily in Brazil, he accumulated a record of ten wins and three losses, with all victories coming via stoppages. His dedication and performance led him to seek further opportunities, eventually moving to England in early 2018 where he secured three additional wins, a period that proved instrumental in shaping his career.
His impressive track record earned him a spot on Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2018. Walker secured a unanimous decision victory against Henrique da Silva, which led to his entry into the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His UFC debut in November 2018 at UFC Fight Night 140 saw him defeat Khalil Rountree Jr. by knockout in the first round, earning his first Performance of the Night bonus. He continued this success with two more first-round knockout victories against Justin Ledet and Misha Cirkunov in early 2019, each earning an additional Performance of the Night award. These rapid successes positioned him as a rising force in the light heavyweight division.
Throughout his UFC tenure, Walker has faced several high-profile opponents, including Corey Anderson, Nikita Krylov, Thiago Santos, and Magomed Ankalaev. He has consistently demonstrated his knockout power and submission skills, with notable wins including a rear-naked choke submission against Ion Cuțelaba in September 2022 and a technical knockout against Paul Craig in January 2023. His August 2025 victory over Zhang Mingyang by technical knockout also earned him another Performance of the Night bonus, further cementing his reputation as a formidable competitor in the light heavyweight division. Walker is currently ranked #12 in the UFC light heavyweight rankings as of August 26, 2025.
