Jon Gosselin is an American television personality known for his appearances on the reality TV show 'Jon & Kate Plus 8', who has since diversified his career into IT, construction, and music.
Jon Gosselin was frequently photographed wearing Ed Hardy clothing by Christian Audigier, leading to speculation about an endorsement deal. While he often wore the brand, Ed Hardy himself later claimed that Gosselin's association negatively impacted the brand's perception, stating that Gosselin 'tanked' the clothing brand.
Jonathan Keith Gosselin was born on April 1, 1977, in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, as the middle of three children. His mother is a second-generation Korean American. He graduated from Wyomissing High School in 1995. Jon Gosselin met Kate Kreider in 1997, and they married in 1999. In October 2000, they welcomed twin daughters, Cara Nicole and Madelyn Kate. On May 10, 2004, they had sextuplets: sons Aaden Jonathan, Collin Thomas, and Joel Kevin, and daughters Alexis Faith, Hannah Joy, and Leah Hope. The family gained media attention, leading to a reality series documenting their lives.
The Discovery Health Channel aired two specials, ‘Surviving Sextuplets and Twins’ in September 2005 and ‘Sextuplets and Twins: One Year Later’. These specials achieved high Nielsen ratings, resulting in the launch of the ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ series in April 2007. The show, which later moved to TLC, became one of the network’s highest-rated programs. The fifth-season premiere drew 9.8 million viewers, a record for the series. During this period, Jon co-wrote ‘Multiple Blessings: Surviving to Thriving with Twins and Sextuplets’ with Kate Gosselin and Beth Carson, which became a New York Times Best Seller.
Following his divorce in 2009, Jon’s involvement in the show decreased, and it was rebranded ‘Kate Plus 8′. He subsequently explored various career paths, working in solar panel installation for Green Pointe Energy in 2011, as a waiter and maitre d’ in Pennsylvania restaurants in 2013, and as a prep cook at T.G.I. Friday’s in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 2016. As of May 2020, Jon works as an IT director at a private, non-profit healthcare facility. He has also pursued a career as a DJ, performing regularly in his hometown of Wyomissing, and released a hip hop track titled ‘Voicemail’ in May 2022 with The International DJ Casper.
