Jonathan Andrew Hume is a professional British film, voice, and stage actor. He is best known for playing the lead role of ‘Simba’ in the musical adaptation of The Lion King in both the West End and Singapore production. Hume has also played a part in several major motion pictures including Mary Poppins Returns (2018), 10,000 BC (2008), Amazing Grace (2006) and Pride (2007). On top of this, Hume has played the part of Judas in performances of the 2004 Jesus Christ Superstar tour as well as made television appearances in series such as Hope & Glory, Eastenders and Crimewatch.
Born on November 21st, 1982, in Oxford, Hume had shown a knack for acting at a very young age. While growing up, one of his favorite movies was The Lion King, and eventually Hume was able to make his dream come true and play the part of Simba in the live action musical. In Hume’s most recent stage endeavor, he plays the role of Kevin J in the Olivier Award-winning Best New Musical Come From Away.
During the current global pandemic, Hume has spent his time productively, still utilizing his talents on other productions. In August of 2020, his larger than life voice was featured in the two audiobooks: ‘Doctor Who: The Lovecraft Invasion’, and ‘The House Share’.
