Jonathan Turley is a nationally recognized legal scholar and commentator, providing extensive expertise on constitutional law and legal theory. After joining the George Washington University Law faculty in 1990, Jonathan Turley went on to become the youngest chaired professor in the school’s history, appointed J.B. and Maurice C. Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law in 1998.
An acclaimed legal scholar, Turley has authored over three dozen articles published in leading law journals including Cornell, Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, and Northwestern. He also directs the Environmental Law Advocacy Center and serves as Executive Director for the Project for Older Prisoners (POPS), demonstrating his commitment to public interest law. Throughout his distinguished career, Professor Turley has acted as counsel in numerous high-profile cases. He provided legal counsel for Area 51 workers in Nevada, nuclear couriers at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and the Rocky Flats grand jury in Colorado.
More than 400 of his articles on legal and policy issues are regularly featured in national newspapers. Professor Turley has served as a legal analyst for CBS and NBC during national controversies and is currently the legal analyst for Fox News. He has appeared as an expert witness in the impeachment hearings for both President Bill Clinton and President Donald Trump, offering extensive constitutional expertise to the proceedings. His academic contributions were further recognized in 2008 when he received an honorary Doctorate of Law from John Marshall Law School.
