Sandi Morris holds the world pole vault title, turning pro in 2015. She competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics and took silver in the pole vault event. She also took silver in the pole vault at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics. She took gold at the World Indoor Championships in 2018. Her personal best is vaulting at the height of 5 meters when she set the American women’s outdoor pole vault record at the 2016 International Association of Athletics Federations Diamond League Memorial Van Damme in Brussels.
Before achieving professional status, Morris had already begun to win competitions. She competed in the South Carolina High School League 3A state pole vault championships in 2009 and 2010. Morris is a Greenville High School graduate who was a state-champion pole vaulter and went all-state in volleyball.
Morris vaulted 4.95 meters indoors, which he achieved in 2016. When she set a new championship record at the 2018 World Indoor Championships, she matched this height. Morris set a new American Track League record of 4.93 meters also in 2016 at Rice University in Houston.
