Josephine Langford

Josephine Langford was born on August 18, 1997, in Perth, Australia, to parents Stephen Langford, a flying doctor, and Elizabeth Green, a pediatrician. Her early life included a passion for music, where she played the saxophone, violin, and piano. At the age of 10, she won “Song of the Year” for her composition “Shadows” in a music competition. Langford began taking acting classes at 13, and by 2012, she was enrolled at Perth Film School. Her early acting credits include several short films: “Sex Ed” (2013), “When Separating” (2013), and “Gypsy Blood” (2014).

Langford’s professional acting career began to gain momentum in 2017 with her screen debut in the indie film “Pulse” and a supporting role in the American horror film “Wish Upon,” alongside Joey King. The same year, she also made her television debut in the Australian series “Wolf Creek,” appearing in two episodes. A significant turning point in her career occurred in July 2018 when she was cast as Tessa Young in the film “After,” based on Anna Todd’s novel. The film’s release in 2019 led to her winning a Teen Choice Award for Choice Drama Movie Actress. She reprised her role as Tessa Young in the sequels “After We Collided” (2020), “After We Fell” (2021), “After Ever Happy” (2022), and “After Everything” (2023).

Beyond the “After” series, Langford expanded her filmography with roles such as Emma Cunningham in the Netflix film “Moxie” (2021) and Katy Gibson in “Gigi & Nate” (2022). In 2019, she appeared in the web television series “Into the Dark” as Clair Singer. More recently, she starred as Zoey Miller in “The Other Zoey” (2023) and was featured in the documentary “Beyond After” (2024).
