Josh Byrne

Josh Byrne’s career-defining moment came when he was selected as the first overall pick in the 2017 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft by the Buffalo Bandits. This followed a stellar collegiate career at Hofstra University where, over two seasons (2016-2017), he amassed an impressive 111 points from 71 goals and 40 assists in just 29 games. Preceding his NLL draft, Byrne also achieved the first overall selection in the 2016 Western Lacrosse Association draft by the Burnaby Lakers, contributing 12 goals and 33 assists in 16 regular season games, and was named the MLL Rookie of the Year in 2017 playing for the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Byrne quickly became a cornerstone for the Buffalo Bandits, leading them to NLL Cup Finals appearances in 2019 and 2022, and securing three consecutive NLL Cup championships in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Continuing his dominant run into 2025 with the Buffalo Bandits’ third consecutive NLL Cup victory, Byrne remains a premier force in professional lacrosse. Off the field, he co-hosts ‘The Dhane and Josh Show’ podcast alongside teammate Dhane Smith, engaging with fans and offering insights into the sport. His career is characterized by consistent elite performance, a wealth of championships across multiple leagues, and significant individual accolades, making him one of the most decorated players in the sport today.
