Kevin O’Leary

Kevin O’Leary is a Canadian entrepreneur, investor, author, and television personality known for his shrewd business acumen and direct approach. After co-founding SoftKey Software Products in 1986, Kevin O’Leary rapidly established himself as a formidable entrepreneur in the software industry. Headquartered in Toronto, SoftKey published and distributed CD-based personal computer software, specializing in educational programs. O’Leary strategically expanded the company through acquisitions, notably integrating WordStar and Spinnaker Software by 1993, and subsequently merging with The Learning Company (TLC) in 1995.

Concurrently, he joined the advisory board of Genstar Capital in 2007. Demonstrating further acumen in finance, O’Leary co-founded O’Leary Funds Inc. in 2008, a mutual fund management firm that grew its assets under management to $1.2 billion by 2012 before its strategic sale to Canoe Financial in 2015. He also launched an Exchange-traded fund (ETF) through O’Shares Investments in 2015.

Venturing beyond business and entertainment, O’Leary entered the Conservative Party of Canada leadership race in 2017, advocating for economic policies focused on lower taxes and reduced national debt. Expanding his digital reach, he launched the podcast ‘Ask Mr. Wonderful’ in 2018, followed by a dedicated YouTube channel under the same banner in 2019. His more recent television appearances include CNBC’s ‘Money Court’ in 2021.
