Julian Lage

Julian Lage is a Grammy-nominated guitarist and composer, recognized for his expansive musicality and collaborations across jazz, bluegrass, and various American music traditions. After performing at the 2000 Grammy Awards at the age of 12, Julian Lage quickly established himself as a prodigious talent in American music. His early musical journey was documented in the 1996 short film ‘Jules at Eight,’ and by 2003, he became a faculty member at the Stanford Jazz Workshop. Lage made his commercial recording debut on David Grisman’s 1999 album ‘Dawg Duos’ and further honed his craft, graduating from the Berklee College of Music in 2008.

His pedagogical approach, combined with diverse performance experiences, allows him to engage with a wide array of musical styles, from European and Indian classical traditions to Gypsy jazz and bluegrass.
