Sarah Close

Sarah Elizabeth Close, born on April 27, 1995, on the Isle of Wight, began her musical journey in 2009 by uploading covers of songs to her YouTube channel. This early engagement allowed her to cultivate an audience before pursuing formal music education. She later moved to London to study music and songwriting at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, enhancing her skills in preparation for a professional career in music.

In 2017, Close released her debut single, “Call Me Out,” which gained traction, reaching number one on the UK Official Physical Singles Chart. This was followed by her debut extended play, “Caught Up,” released on April 14, 2017. The EP further solidified her presence in the music scene, with its title track’s music video released shortly after. Her success led to a record deal with Parlophone Records in July 2017, although this partnership was short-lived, concluding in 2018.

Following her departure from Parlophone, Close established her own record label, The Kodiak Club, demonstrating a shift towards independent artistic control. Under her own label, she continued to release new music, including singles like “You Say” and “Crazy Kind.” Her debut mini-album, “And Now, We’re Shining,” was released on March 20, 2020. This album reached number 16 on the UK Independent Albums Chart, marking a significant achievement in her career as an independent artist.
