Julian Lennon

Julian Charles John Lennon, born on April 8, 1963, in Liverpool, England, is the son of John Lennon and Cynthia Lennon. His early life was marked by his connection to The Beatles, with three of their songs, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” “Hey Jude,” and “Good Night,” being inspired by him. After his parents’ divorce in 1968, he maintained a relationship with his father, who encouraged his musical interests. Lennon made his musical debut at age 11, playing drums on his father’s album *Walls and Bridges* in 1974. He achieved significant success with his 1984 debut album, *Valotte*, which featured the top 10 hits “Too Late for Goodbyes” and the title track, earning him a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist in 1986. His second album, *The Secret Value of Daydreaming* (1986), included the US Album Rock Tracks number-one single “Stick Around.” He continued to release music, with his 1991 single “Saltwater” topping the Australian singles charts for four weeks.

Beyond music, Lennon expanded his creative pursuits into photography, beginning seriously after documenting his half-brother Sean’s music tour in 2007. His fine-art photography has been exhibited internationally, including “Timeless: The Photography of Julian Lennon” in 2010 and “Vision” in partnership with Aston Martin Residences in 2021. He is also a New York Times bestselling author of children’s books, starting with the *Touch the Earth* trilogy in 2017. As a documentary filmmaker, Lennon produced *Whaledreamers* (2006), an environmental film that received eight international awards, and served as executive producer for the Netflix documentary *Kiss the Ground* (2020) and *Women of the White Buffalo* (2022). His philanthropic efforts concentrate on The White Feather Foundation (TWFF), which he founded in 2007 with a mission to address environmental and humanitarian issues, including clean water, Indigenous cultures, and education.

In 2020, Lennon legally changed his name to Julian Charles John Lennon to better reflect how he was known. His 2022 album, *Jude*, released on BMG, is a personal reflection on his life experiences and connections, notably referencing the Beatles song “Hey Jude.” This album, his first in 11 years, delves into personal and global themes, indicating a mature artistic perspective. Lennon’s diverse career demonstrates a consistent commitment to creative expression and social responsibility, leveraging his platforms to raise awareness and support various causes. His latest musical endeavor involved a remix of his song “I Should Have Known” in August 2024 by Spike Stent, aiming to give it “new life.”
