Julian Peterson

Julian Peterson was born on July 28, 1978, in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland. He attended Crossland High School in Temple Hills, Maryland, and played college football at Michigan State University. Prior to Michigan State, he spent two years at Valley Forge Military Academy and College, where he recorded 39.5 sacks and was named first-team NJCAA All-America. At Michigan State, he continued to excel, earning honorable mention All-Big Ten in his junior year and All-American selections from Football News and Sporting News in his senior year (1999) after achieving 15 sacks. In his two collegiate seasons at Michigan State, Peterson accumulated 140 tackles and 25 sacks across 23 games.

Peterson was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round as the 16th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft. This pick was acquired by the 49ers through a trade with the New York Jets. In his rookie season, he started 7 of 13 games, contributing 47 tackles, 4 sacks, and 2 interceptions. His performance led to his first Pro Bowl selection in 2002, where he recorded 94 tackles. Over six seasons with the 49ers (2000-2005), Peterson tallied 394 tackles, 21.5 sacks, and 5 interceptions in 79 games, earning two Pro Bowl honors. From 2006 to 2008, Peterson played for the Seattle Seahawks, where he continued his Pro Bowl streak, receiving three consecutive selections. His first season with the Seahawks in 2006 saw him achieve a career-high 10 sacks and 89 tackles. During his three years in Seattle, he recorded 249 tackles, 24.5 sacks, and 3 interceptions in 48 games.

In 2009, Peterson was traded to the Detroit Lions, where he played for two seasons before being released in March 2011. Throughout his 11-year NFL career, Peterson demonstrated consistent performance, participating in 158 games, accumulating 802 combined tackles, 51.5 sacks, 21 forced fumbles, and 8 interceptions. He was a 5-time Pro Bowl selection and received All-Pro honors in 2003 (First-Team) and 2002 (Second-Team).
