After being named Palm Beach 5A-1A football defensive player of the year in 2018 for a standout senior season that included 71 tackles, three sacks, and nine interceptions, Kaiir Elam committed to play college football at the University of Florida. His collegiate career with the Florida Gators commenced strongly in his true freshman season (2019), participating in all 13 games and making five starts. During this time, he contributed 11 tackles, secured three interceptions, and broke up four additional passes, earning him a place on the Southeastern Conference (SEC) All-Freshman Team.
