Kalyn Ponga

Kalyn Ponga is a decorated professional rugby league footballer, celebrated for his dynamic play as a fullback and his leadership for the Newcastle Knights and Queensland, punctuated by his 2023 Dally M Medal win. After signing a four-year contract with the North Queensland Cowboys in December 2013, Kalyn Ponga swiftly established himself as a formidable talent in rugby league. He built an impressive junior career, playing for the Easts Tigers in the Cyril Connell Cup and earning selection for the Australian Schoolboys under-15 side in both 2012 and 2013. Identified as a prospect for the Brisbane Lions Academy, Ponga ultimately dedicated himself to rugby league, making his NYC debut for the Cowboys in 2015.

His exceptional performance was further recognized when he was named the Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) Player of the Year in 2018, solidifying his status as one of the game’s elite. Continuing his career trajectory, Ponga was named in the Australian Rugby League World Cup 9s squad in 2019. He demonstrated his commitment to the Newcastle Knights by extending his contract until the end of 2024 in 2020.
