Kandy Ho’

Frank Diaz Jr., known professionally as Kandy Ho’, was born on September 24, 1987, in Connecticut, U.S. Diaz moved to Puerto Rico at the age of 10 and was raised in a Pentecostal and Baptist household. Before embarking on her drag career, she worked in sales for eight years. Her initial foray into drag was as a fill-in, impersonating Madonna at a talent show. She was later persuaded by her then-boyfriend to perform as Kimberly Wyatt in a Pussycat Dolls impersonation act for Pride, which ultimately led her to pursue drag as a career. Her drag name, Kandy Ho’, combines ‘Kandy’ to reflect her sweet personality, suggested by a friend, and ‘Ho’ for a ‘raunchy’ element suggested by her boyfriend.

Kandy Ho’ gained significant recognition after competing on the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2015, where she quickly rose to prominence. Her participation marked a key milestone in her career, establishing her as a notable figure in the drag community. During her time on the show, she endured two lip-sync battles, demonstrating her performance abilities. A particular critique from Michelle Visage regarding her makeup contouring became a widely recognized GIF. Her career continued to evolve when she competed in the second season of The Switch Drag Race in 2018, representing Puerto Rico in the Chilean version of the show.

In 2019, Kandy Ho’ was acknowledged by Vulture as one of the most powerful drag queens in America, highlighting her influence and standing within the drag industry.
