Kanoa Greene was born in Hawaii and raised in Florida, spending her early life near the ocean. She pursued music, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a focus on Voice from Nebraska Wesleyan University, followed by a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance from Rider University (Westminster Choir College). Her early career involved corporate recruitment, working as a Recruiting Coordinator at Patch.com (an AOL Company) from August 2010 to December 2010, then as a Talent Acquisition Associate at Grey New York from December 2010 to December 2013, and later as a Corporate Recruiter for Hawaiian Airlines from January 2014 to December 2014. A significant personal event, the loss of sight in one eye after a routine surgery, prompted a shift in her priorities and a renewed focus on her physical well-being. This turning point led her to explore outdoor activities and ultimately become a visible figure in the body-positive fitness and outdoor communities.
Since January 2015, Kanoa Greene has operated Kanoa Greene LLC as a Motivational Speaker, Content Creator, Plus-Size Model, and Industry Consultant. In this role, she champions body diversity and inclusion, partnering with major brands like Nike, Walmart, and Amazon. Her work has been instrumental in creating space for plus-size bodies in industries traditionally geared towards narrower body types. She has served as a keynote speaker and guest presenter for various events, including those for Victoria’s Secret PINK, Muscle Milk, and Marshalls. In January 2020, Kanoa founded NAKOA Adventure, a company dedicated to curating adventure experiences for the plus-size community, directly addressing the lack of suitable resources and support within the outdoor industry for individuals sizing US14 and up. NAKOA Adventure offers programs like surf retreats, hiking, and stand-up paddleboarding, with specialized instruction and equipment for larger body types.
Kanoa Greene’s efforts have been recognized by media outlets such as Good Morning America, CNN, and Forbes. She continues to advocate for the belief that fitness and outdoor adventure are accessible to everyone, irrespective of size. Her involvement extends to serving as an Alumni Collective Board Member for The Futurist Project, beginning in March 2025, and participating in their Leadership Program in 2023. Her career demonstrates a consistent progression from a corporate background to a prominent role as an entrepreneur and advocate, significantly impacting the fitness and outdoor sectors by promoting inclusivity and challenging traditional perceptions of athleticism.
