The brilliant Karamo Brown is a TV host, reality TV personality, author, actor, and activist, best known for his appearances as the culture expert on Netflix’s Queer Eye, and for his NBCUniversal talk show, Karamo. His memoir, Karamo: My Story of Embracing Purpose, Healing, and Hope, was published in 2019. That year also saw the release of his children’s book I Am Perfectly Designed.
Born and raised in Texas, and then in Florida from the age of 15, Brown was a student at the Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland in the 1990’s. After the infamous shooting incident at the school in 2018, he became an active member of the Never Again MSD movement advocating stricter gun control legislation. He attended the Florida A&M University, and after graduating made his debut on the MTV reality series The Real World: Philadelphia in 2004, becoming the first out gay black man on reality TV. He has gone on to host and appear on a number of shows, including MTV’s Are You The One: Second Chances, and from 2018 he became the culture expert on Netflix’s reality show Queer Eye. In 2019 he took part in Season 28 of the reality TV competition show Dancing with the Stars.
Brown regularly connects with his millions of followers and fans through Twitter, and Instagram, posting pictures and comments about his life around entertainment and activism.
