Karan Soni gained widespread recognition for his role as Dopinder, the fan-favorite taxi driver, in the highly successful Deadpool film franchise, which began in 2016. Prior to this, Soni established his early career with a film debut in Yusuf Sumer’s 2010 comedy, Kaka Nirvana, followed by his feature film debut in Safety Not Guaranteed in 2012. He quickly moved into lead television roles, starring in Amazon Studios’ Betas in 2013 and Yahoo! Screen’s Other Space in 2015, also serving as a series regular on Blunt Talk from 2015 to 2016, building a strong foundation in both comedic and dramatic work.
Expanding his talents behind the camera, Soni co-wrote, starred in, and produced the critically praised feature 7 Days (2021), which earned an Independent Spirit Award. He has also directed episodes for notable television series, including HBO’s Room 104 and ABC’s Emmy Award-winning Abbott Elementary in 2024. Soni continues to take on diverse leading roles, including the romantic comedy A Nice Indian Boy (2024) and the upcoming thriller film Fade to Black. Further showcasing his versatility, he is part of the ensemble cast for the Audible Original audio drama Murder at the Patel Motel, scheduled for release in 2025.
