Karan Tacker was born on May 11, 1986, in Bombay, India, into a Punjabi Hindu family. He pursued a degree in Business Management before entering the entertainment industry. Tacker began his career with modeling assignments and commercials, notably gaining recognition for his appearance in a Nivea Men’s Cream advertisement. His initial acting experience included a small role in the 2008 film “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.” In 2009, he secured his first television lead role as Sameer Saxena in “Love Ne Mila Di Jodi” on STAR One, which aired until 2010. Following this, he appeared as Shantanu Khandelwal in “Rang Badalti Odhani” from 2010 to 2011.
Tacker’s career gained significant momentum with his portrayal of Viren Singh Vadhera in the popular Star Plus show “Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai,” which ran from 2011 to 2013 and spanned 515 episodes. His performance earned him a nomination for the GR8! Performer Of The Year (Male) at the Indian Television Academy Awards in 2012, the same year he received the Most Fit Actor award at the Zee Gold Awards. In 2014, Tacker demonstrated his dancing skills as the first runner-up on the reality show “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 7.” He expanded his presence into hosting, leading shows like “Halla Bol” (2014), “The Voice India” (2015), and co-hosting “Nach Baliye 8” (2017).
In recent years, Tacker has achieved success in streaming projects, marking a return to major acting roles. He played Farooq Ali in Disney+ Hotstar’s “Special OPS” (2020) and its spin-off “Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story” (2021). His role as IPS Amit Lodha in the Netflix series “Khakee: The Bihar Chapter” (2022) garnered widespread recognition among Indian streaming audiences, leading to him being named a “Power Pack Performer” at the Iconic Gold Awards in 2023. Looking ahead to 2025, Tacker is set to make his film debut as Captain Samar Raina in “Tanvi the Great” and will portray paranormal investigator Gaurav Tiwary in “Bhay: The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery” on Amazon MX Player.
