Katherine Bellingham is a British television presenter and engineer, perhaps best known as the presenter of the BBC science show, Tomorrow’s World (1990-1994). Bellingham has presented several shows throughout her career, namely The Acid Test, Splitting the Difference, The Big Bang on Children’s ITV, Working in Engineering, BBC School Radio and Radio 4’s, Testing times.
Bellingham worked as a BBC radio engineer in the Broadcasting House before being chosen to co-host the annual Faraday Lecture, a tour of live shows for school children around the UK, sponsored by the Institute of Electrical Engineers. Later, Bellingham secured a role presenting Techno, a Design and Technology programme. In 1990, Bellingham began working on Tomorrow’s World, a BBC series which focussed on new developments in science and technology. Bellingham is a regular co-presenter for Museum of Life and in 2012, she acted as one of the celebrity judges at the National Science and Engineering Competition at The Big Bang Fair.
Bellingham is passionate about STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) careers for women and educating public audiences and children about STEM in general. Bellingham is named the DCSF’s STEM Careers Champion (NSCC), is also Education Ambassador for the Bloodhound Engineering Adventure and is a patron of WISE. In 2011, Bellingham was publically recognised for her work and was awarded a Woman of Outstanding Achievement Award.
