United States Kathryn Plummer has transitioned from a collegiate volleyball phenom to a leading figure on the U.S. Women's National Team and a professional athlete in top international leagues, showcasing a career marked by consistent achievement and adaptability.

Kathryn Rose Plummer Boden was born on October 16, 1998. She grew up in Aliso Viejo, California, and developed her volleyball skills playing club ball at Tstreet Volleyball Club and for Aliso Niguel High School. Growing up, Plummer’s dream was to compete in the Olympics, a goal she would later achieve. Her early potential was recognized with a scholarship offer in the 7th grade, leading her to Stanford University.
At Stanford, Plummer made a significant impact, leading the team to NCAA Division I National Championships in 2016, 2018, and 2019. She was named to the NCAA all-tournament team in each of those championship years and earned the Most Outstanding Player award in both 2018 and 2019. Her collegiate accolades also include being a two-time AVCA Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018, and a three-time AVCA First Team All-American. In recognition of her amateur athletic excellence, Plummer received the prestigious James E. Sullivan Award in 2019 as the best amateur athlete in the United States. She also received the Honda Sport Award for Volleyball in 2019 and the Senior CLASS Award.
Following her decorated collegiate career, Plummer joined the U.S. Women’s National Team in 2019, making her debut at the Pan American Cup where the team won gold. She has since competed professionally in Italy and Japan, demonstrating her versatility as an opposite/outside hitter. Her international career includes playing for Saugella Team Monza (2019–2020) and Imoco Volley (2021–2024) in Italy, Denso Airybees (2020–2021) in Japan, and most recently joining Eczacıbaşı Dynavit in Turkey in 2024. A notable achievement in her career is being the only player in history to win FIVB World Championship medals in both beach and indoor volleyball. She was an Olympic alternate for the 2020 Summer Olympics and was named to the Olympic team for the 2024 Summer Olympics, where she earned a silver medal.
