Katt Williams

Micah Williams, known professionally as Katt Williams, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on September 2, 1971. He was raised in Dayton, Ohio, by Jehovah’s Witness parents. Williams began his comedy career in the Avondale neighborhood of Cincinnati, performing in clubs around the country and establishing himself by 1999. Early appearances included The Improv, The Comedy Club, The Ice House, and Hollywood Park Casino. He gained wider recognition on BET’s ‘ComicView’ as Katt “N da Hatt” Williams.

Williams’ acting career began in 2002 with an appearance on ‘NYPD Blue’. He is well-known for his role as Money Mike in the 2002 film ‘Friday After Next’. His film credits also include supporting roles in ‘Norbit’ (2007) as Lord Have Mercy and ‘First Sunday’ (2008) as Rickey. On television, he was a recurring guest on ‘Wild ‘n Out’ for its first three seasons and provided the voice of A Pimp Named Slickback in ‘The Boondocks’ from 2005 to 2008. In 2018, Williams won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his portrayal of Willie in the second season premiere of ‘Atlanta’.

His stand-up specials have been a significant part of his career, starting with ‘Let a Playa Play’ in 2006, followed by his first HBO special, ‘The Pimp Chronicles, Pt. 1’ the same year. He co-wrote and starred in the critically successful comedy film ‘Katt Williams: American Hustle’ in 2007, solidifying his status as a mainstream comedian. Further HBO specials included ‘It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin” (2008) and ‘Kattpacalypse’ (2012). After a brief retirement announcement in 2012, he continued to tour and released ‘Katt Williams: Priceless: Afterlife’ (2014), directed by Spike Lee, and later Netflix specials ‘Great America’ (2018), ‘World War III’ (2022), and ‘Woke Foke’ (2024).
