Journalist, author and broadcaster Katty Kay is familiar to audiences across the world for her work on the BBC and NBC News. Besides her on-screen media work, she is a board member of the International Women’s Media Foundation, and is the co-author of three successful books about women and business.
Kay was working at an aid agency in Zimbabwe when she decided to pursue a career in journalism, joining the BBC as Zimbabwe correspondent for the World Service. Over the following years, she worked in London, in Tokyo, and in Washington DC, and served for a stint with The Times, before joining Washington-based BBC World News America as a correspondent. Today, she is the lead anchor on the Peabody Award-winning programme, as well as co-presenter on BBC World News’ Beyond 100 Days, reporting on the latest in US politics, business and global affairs. Her work with the BBC has brought Kay to a global audience, and she has additionally made regular appearances on US shows such as MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Meet The Press, The Chris Matthews Show, and HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher.
Alongside Good Morning America senior national correspondent Claire Shipman, Kay has co-authored three popular books. Her first, Womenomics, explores the paradigm shift presented by the increasing value of women in the workforce. Its follow-up, The Confidence Code: The Science and Art of Self-Assurance – What Women Should Know, uses the latest research in genetics and behaviour to offer practical advice to help women achieve the careers they want. Finally, The Confidence Code For Girls, which instantly became a New York Times Bestseller, applies the same findings to help create a generation of confident and empowered young women and girls.
