Canadian-American figure skater Keegan Messing is a Canadian Championships medallist, a Winter Olympian and a Challenger Series gold medal-winner. Messing formerly competed for the United States, but today represents Canada, and is also associated with Edmonton-based club Ice Palace FSC.
Messing began skating at the age of three, and soon picked up a series of regional titles at juvenile, intermediate and novice levels. In the 2008-09 season, he became junior Pacific Coast champion, and took junior silver at the US Championships the same year. Over the following seasons, Messing picked up a string of top five finishes at Junior Grand Prix events, including taking a silver in the UK and a gold in Romania, and finished in fourth position at the Junior Worlds two years running. Shortly after, we would take his first senior silverware, with two consecutive gold medals at the Cup of Nice and a bronze at the Nebelhorn Trophy.
Since competing for Canada, Messing has consistently placed highly at the Canadian Championships, and has landed podium finishes for three years running. In the Challenger Series, he has taken bronzes in the Golden Spin and the Autumn Classic, and gold at the Nebelhorn. Meanwhile, at Grand Prix events, he has scooped silver at Skate Canada and has placed in the top five at events including the Cup of China, the NHK Trophy, the Rostelecom Cup and Skate America. Regularly seen skating at the highest level of international competition, Messing has placed in the top eight at the Worlds, has finished fourth at the Four Continents, and made his Olympic debut at the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea.
