Keith Buckley is an American rock singer currently best known for fronting the groups Every Time I Die and The Damned Things. His other musical projects include acoustic duo Finale and electro act Tape. Every Time I Die’s biggest albums include Ex Lives, From Parts Unknown, and Low Teens, all of which made the US Billboard Top 25. Meanwhile, The Damned Things’ two albums, Ironiclast and High Crimes, also performed well, with the former topping the US Heatseekers Chart and making the Hard Rock Top Ten. Buckley has also published two well-received novels, Scale and Watch.
Buckley’s first major band was Every Time I Die, whom he formed with brother Jordan and friends Andy Williams and Michael Novak in Buffalo, New York in the late 1990s. They built a huge following through their invigoration of the “metalcore” genre and become known for their wild antics and endless touring, supporting the likes of Killswitch Engage and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Despite their hard-drinking reputation — Buckley has commented before that he likes to get blind drunk to write lyrics — their work ethic was evident throughout the 2000s, eventually paying off with a series of hit albums.
In 2010, along with members of Anthrax, Alkaline Trio, and Fall Out Boy, Buckley formed heavy metal supergroup The Damned Things. Despite the success of their debut album, they split in 2012 but reformed in 2016, eventually releasing their second album in 2019. During all of this, Every Time I Die have remained as active as ever, releasing new music in 2020 and recording their ninth studio album.
