Singer-songwriter, actor and presenter Keith Duffy first came to fame as one-fifth of superstar Irish boyband Boyzone in the 1990s. He has since become known for acting roles in The Clinic and Coronation Street, and as a host on shows including You’re A Star and The Box. He has been nominated for two British Soap Awards, and as part of Boyzone has won two MTV Europe Music Awards and four BRIT Awards.
Duffy debuted as part of Boyzone in 1993 alongside fellow singers Ronan Keating, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham and Shane Lynch, and the group quickly became an international pop sensation. They would go on to have seventeen Top 5 singles in the UK, including six No. 1s, and repeatedly topped charts in countries such as Ireland, New Zealand and the Netherlands. Their albums enjoyed similar success, with 1998’s Where We Belong earning five-times Platinum certification in the UK, and selling over two million copies across Europe alone. Though they officially disbanded in 1999, the group have since staged several comebacks, comprising multiple sell-out world tours and four further studio albums.
After leaving Boyzone, Duffy quickly established himself as a popular television personality, hosting series such as Fully Booked Interactive and The Box, and in 2002 landed the role of Ciaran McCarthy in long-running British soap Coronation Street. Though his character was initially intended to perform a short run, he was a hit with critics and fans, and continued to play the part for three years. Duffy has since appeared on television shows including in The Clinic, Fair City and Death in Paradise, and has been seen on the big screen in Mrs. Brown’s Boys D’Movie, The Black Prince and Loftus Hall.
