Kelly Mathieson gained prominence in the industry when she secured the lead role of Christine Daaé in the original West End production of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ at Her Majestys Theatre. Her acclaimed tenure in the iconic role lasted for nearly three years. Mathieson’s extensive training began as a ballet dancer with the Scottish Ballet Company, followed by classical singing at the Royal College of Music, before making a successful transition to musical theatre. Early in her career, she also originated the role of Meg March in the West End production of ‘Little Women’, which included an Abbey Road recording, and appeared as Alice in ‘At Last Its Summer’ at the London Palladium, West End.
Mathieson also delivered a memorable performance of the NFL National Anthem at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. While a planned China tour with her interpretation of Christine Daaé was postponed due to the pandemic, it highlights her continued international demand. Currently, Kelly Mathieson is recording and preparing for the release of her highly anticipated first solo album, having signed with the musical theatre label ‘WestWay Music’. Her upcoming engagements include a celebration of Julie Andrews’ 90th birthday with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, further cementing her status as a leading voice in both classical and musical theatre.
Mathieson is also slated for a concert tour of China, reinforcing her global presence and appeal.
