Mandeep Kaur

Mandeep Kaur was born on April 19, 1988, in Jagadhri, Haryana, India. She primarily competes as a sprinter in the 400 meters. Her athletic career began to gain national and international recognition, leading to her participation in significant events. In 2007, she secured a gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championships in Amman as part of the 4×400 meters relay team. The following year, 2008, marked her debut at the Olympic Games in Beijing, where she competed in both the 400 meters and the 4×400 meters relay. In the same year, she also earned a gold medal in the 4×400 meters relay and a bronze medal in the 400 meters at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Doha, achieving a personal best of 51.74 seconds in the 400 meters.

Kaur continued to build on her success, notably at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, where she was a part of the gold-winning Indian 4×400 meters relay quartet. Her performance was further highlighted by gold medals at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou and the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, both in the women’s 4×400 meters relay. These victories cemented her position as a key member of India’s relay teams. Her career, however, also faced challenges, including a widely reported doping case in 2011, which she attributed to tainted food supplements.

Despite the setbacks, Kaur’s consistent performance in major regional and international competitions showcased her dedication to athletics. Her medal record includes multiple golds in relay events, establishing her as a significant figure in Indian track and field.
