United States Kemba Walker, a four-time NBA All-Star, has transitioned from an accomplished professional basketball player to a player enhancement coach for the Charlotte Hornets. After leading the UConn Huskies to an NCAA Championship, he now brings over a decade of NBA experience to player development.
Kemba Walker signed a multi-year shoe deal with Under Armour, making him the first player from the 2011 NBA draft class to sign with the brand.
After his contract with Under Armour expired, Kemba Walker left the brand and signed with Jordan Brand, a subsidiary of Nike, in 2015.
Vistaprint partnered with Kemba Walker to create a limited-edition capsule collection. This collaboration aimed to support Black-owned small businesses in New England.
Kemba Hudley Walker, born on May 8, 1990, in The Bronx, New York, developed his basketball skills at Rice High School in Harlem. During his senior year, he averaged 18.2 points and 5.3 assists per game, earning a spot on the prestigious McDonald’s All-American Team. He later played college basketball for the Connecticut Huskies. His junior year was particularly remarkable, culminating in the 2011 NCAA Championship where he was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Walker’s college career averages included 16.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over 111 games.
Drafted ninth overall by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2011 NBA draft, Walker embarked on a 12-year professional career. He spent eight seasons with the Charlotte franchise (Bobcats/Hornets), becoming their all-time leading scorer. During his tenure in Charlotte, he earned three NBA All-Star selections (2017, 2018, 2019) and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2019. Known for his scoring ability and leadership on the court, Walker consistently performed at a high level, achieving career highs of 60 points against the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018, 16 assists against the Detroit Pistons in 2014, and 8 steals against the Dallas Mavericks in 2012.
Walker’s professional journey also included stints with the Boston Celtics (2019–2021), New York Knicks (2021–2022), and Dallas Mavericks (2022–2023). Following his departure from the NBA, he played for AS Monaco in the EuroLeague during the 2023–2024 season, where he won an LNB Élite championship. In July 2024, Walker officially retired from playing professional basketball and returned to the Charlotte Hornets organization as a player enhancement coach, leveraging his extensive experience to mentor and develop emerging talent.
