Kenneth Yuan-Ke Cheng was born in Cambridge, UK. His mother was a freelance Mandarin interpreter for the British police, and his father, who developed bank security software, immigrated from Beijing in the 1980s. During his school years, Cheng was noted for his mathematical aptitude, earning him the nickname “the human calculator.” He pursued mathematics at Cambridge University, where he directed “The Footlights International Tour Show 2015: Love Handles,” which toured the UK, Paris, and North America. After completing his first year, Cheng left university to become a professional poker player, a career where he experienced significant financial fluctuations, reportedly winning and losing over $100,000 in a single day.
