Actor and singer Kenton Duty is best known for the role of “Young Jacob” on ABC drama Lost and as Gunther Hessenheffer on Disney Channel ‘s Shake It Up. His other notable roles include Matt Prylek in Contest, an anti-bullying movie, and the multi-talented star demonstrated his musical talents on his hit single Teenage Summer Nights. With over 905k followers on Facebook and hundreds of thousands more on Instagram, TikTok and Twitter, Duty has also taken the world of social media by storm.
Hailing from Plano, Texas, Duty caught the acting bug when his parents suggested he tried a musical theatre workshop to help him feel less nervous for school presentations. Whilst attending the summer workshop he was spotted by a casting director who asked him to audition for A Christmas Carol. Duty made his debut playing Young Scrooge at the Dallas Theater Centre before starting to audition for roles in LA.
Duty made his movie debut in Lifetime TV film Christmas in Paradise in 2007, and began to appear in comedy sketches on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 2010 he rose to prominence after landing the role of “Young Jacob” in the smash hit TV series Lost, which led to a co-starring role in Shake It up! as flamboyant fashion designer and dancer , Gunther Hessenheffer.
After leaving Shake It Up! Duty concentrated on his film career and worked on the movies Silver Bells, Contest and short film Murphy, and has continued to work regularly in both film and television over the last decade.
