Kerry Rhodes was born on August 2, 1982, in Birmingham, Alabama. He started playing football at the age of nine. During his time at Jess Lanier High School in Bessemer, Alabama, he excelled as a starting quarterback and an honor student. In his junior year (1998), he accumulated over 1,500 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, along with 500 rushing yards, leading Lanier to a 10–2 record. His senior season saw him throw for more than 1,600 yards and rush for 850 yards. He was recognized as Metro Player of the Year and earned first-team All-State honors in basketball, where he guided his team to the 6A title game. In 2000, Rhodes joined Louisville as a quarterback but transitioned to safety.
Rhodes’ professional football career began when he was selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round (123rd overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he secured the starting strong safety position and played in all 16 games of the 2005 season, recording 108 total tackles, a sack, and an interception. His performance earned him recognition, including being named AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 3 of 2006 and later being named to the All-Pro team by the Associated Press following the 2006 NFL season. In 2010, Rhodes was traded to the Arizona Cardinals where he continued to have a significant impact, recording 90 tackles and 4 interceptions in his first season with the team. He was honored with The Lloyd Herberg MVP award for the 2010–2011 season by the Arizona chapter of the Pro Football Writers Association.
Post-NFL, Kerry Rhodes has developed a career in entertainment as an actor and producer, known for his work in films like “Tragedy Girls” (2017) and TV series such as “If Loving You Is Wrong” (2014-2017). He has also taken on roles as a writer and executive producer for various projects.
