Kevin Harvick

Kevin Michael Harvick was born on December 8, 1975, in Bakersfield, California. His racing journey began at an early age, receiving a go-kart as a kindergarten graduation gift. This early start led to considerable success in kart racing, where he secured seven national championships and two Grand National championships. During his high school years, Harvick commenced part-time racing in late models within the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest Series in 1992. He also participated in various sports, including wrestling, baseball, basketball, football, and soccer, even qualifying for a CIF Central Section wrestling title in his senior year. After graduating, Harvick briefly attended Bakersfield College to study architecture but ultimately dedicated himself to a full-time racing career, setting the foundation for his future in NASCAR.

Harvick’s professional NASCAR career took a significant turn in 2000 when he signed with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) to compete full-time in the Busch Series, securing the Rookie of the Year award with three wins. A pivotal moment occurred in 2001 following the death of Dale Earnhardt Sr., which led to Harvick making his Cup Series debut earlier than planned, driving the renumbered No. 29 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet. In only his third Cup Series start, he won the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, a victory that garnered significant attention and was dedicated to Earnhardt. That same year, he became the first driver to win the Busch Series championship while competing full-time in the Winston Cup Series with a top-ten finish. Throughout his career, Harvick has amassed 121 combined national series wins, placing him third all-time in NASCAR history, and 60 Cup Series wins, ranking him tenth.

Over the years, Harvick achieved numerous milestones and championships, including the 2001 and 2006 Xfinity Series championships and the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series championship with Stewart–Haas Racing. He also won the 2007 Daytona 500 and is the all-time wins leader at Phoenix Raceway with nine victories. Beyond his driving achievements, Harvick is the owner of Kevin Harvick Incorporated (KHI Management), a race team that previously fielded cars in the Xfinity and Truck Series and now manages various athletes. He has also transitioned into a broadcasting career with NASCAR on FOX, providing commentary for Xfinity Series races since 2015 and is slated to call Cup Series races starting in 2024, following his retirement from full-time Cup Series driving at the end of the 2023 season. This multi-faceted career demonstrates his enduring impact and comprehensive involvement in the sport.
