Vanderpump Rules star Kristen Doute is a well-known American television personality, fashion designer, entrepreneur, actor, and author. As an aspiring actor, Doute began working as a waitress at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR in West Hollywood, California. On Bravo TV’s Vanderpump Rules, a spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she was cast as an original series regular. The show follows Vanderpump’s staff as they attempt to advance their careers in the entertainment industry while simultaneously coping with personal concerns.
Doute’s debut book, He’s Making You Crazy, a humorous autobiographical guide to relationships, was published by Chicago Review Press in June 2020. Michele Alexander, co-author of How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days, which inspired the film of the same name starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, worked on the book.
In 2014, Doute launched the James Mae clothing line, named after her nephew and niece. It produces graphic tees and sweatshirts for men and women with classic and retro rock & roll designs. Doute relaunched James Mae in 2019 with business partner Magen Mattox, preserving the vintage rock mood and expanding the product variety. “Basic Witch Potion No. 1,” a pinot grigio wine developed in partnership with actor Stephen Amell’s company Nocking Point Wines, was introduced in February 2019 by Doute and her Vanderpump Rules co-stars Schroeder and Katie Maloney-Schwartz. In June 2019, they published “Basic Witch Potion No. 2,” their second collaboration with Nocking Point Wines.
