Kristen Doute was born on February 17, 1983, in Dearborn, Michigan. Her background includes Lebanese and Irish heritage. She initially pursued a career in acting, which led her to work as a server at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant in West Hollywood, California. This role became a pivotal point in her career, as she was cast as an original series regular on Bravo TV’s “Vanderpump Rules” in 2013, a spin-off of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” The show documented her life and interpersonal relationships over eight seasons, establishing her as a prominent reality television personality.
Following her time on “Vanderpump Rules,” Doute expanded her professional activities into other areas. In 2014, she launched James Mae, a clothing line featuring graphic tees and sweatshirts, named after her nephew and niece. The brand was relaunched in 2019 with business partner Magen Mattox, maintaining a vintage rock aesthetic and expanding its product range. In 2019, she co-authored “He’s Making You Crazy,” a humorous autobiographical guide to relationships. Doute has also diversified her media presence by launching a podcast titled “Sex, Love…and What Else Matters” with Luke Broderick in November 2022. Her return to reality television includes appearances on “The Goat” in 2024 and starring in “The Valley” from 2024 to the present, which has been renewed for a second season.
Throughout her career, Doute has engaged in various projects demonstrating her entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to her clothing line, she partnered with “Vanderpump Rules” co-stars Stassi Schroeder and Katie Maloney to launch a pinot grigio wine, “Basic Witch Potion No. 1,” in collaboration with Nocking Point Wines in 2019. While initially removed from sale after Doute and Schroeder’s firing from “Vanderpump Rules” in 2020, “Basic Witch Potion No. 1” was relaunched in 2023 with Maloney and Doute.
