Actress and singer Krysta Rodriguez is known to audiences for television shows including Smash, Trial & Error, Daybreak, and a host of stage roles. For her work, she has been recognised with a Broadway.com Audience Choice Award and an Indie Series Award, and has been nominated for honours including an Ovation Award and a BroadwayWorld LA Award.
Rodriguez first began taking dance lessons as a teenager, and later took up acting and singing in the hope of pursuing performance as a career. She later landed her first professional role on the children’s television series Colby’s Clubhouse, and attended the prestigious Orange Country High School of the Arts. After travelling to New York to attend NYU, Rodriguez appeared in the New York City Center Encores! production of Bye, Bye Birdie, and later made her Broadway debut in Good Vibrations.
Over the following years, Rodriguez appeared in the national tour of The Boy Friend, and the Broadway productions of Spring Awakening, A Chorus Line, In The Heights, The Addams Family and First Date. Meanwhile, on television, she played parts in Gossip Girl, Married, Chasing Life and Inside Amy Schumer, and on the big screen, she appeared in films including Shadow of Fear, Wishin’ and Hopin’, and the American-Spanish romcom Bakery in Brooklyn.
In recent years, Rodriguez has become an increasingly familiar face on television, thanks to her acclaimed performances as Ana in the NBC series Smash, as Ms Crumble in Netflix’s Daybreak, as Maxine in ABC’s Quantico, and as Summer in NBC’s Trial & Error. In 2019, she was cast as Megara in the open-air Delacorte Theater’s production of Hercules.
