K.T. McFarland has established a distinguished career in national security and foreign policy, serving in multiple presidential administrations and as a prominent commentator. After beginning her career working part-time in the White House Situation Room in 1970, where she typed the President’s Daily Brief, Kt Mcfarland went on to become an integral part of Dr. Henry Kissinger’s National Security Council staff.

Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger starting in March 1982. Her significant contributions included aiding in the development of his influential ‘Six Tests for the Use of U.S. Military Power’ speech, a precursor to the widely recognized Powell Doctrine. Demonstrating her commitment and capability, she was promoted to Principal Deputy to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs in December 1983.

Ambassador to Singapore in May 2017, she ultimately withdrew her name from consideration in February 2018. Throughout her distinguished career, Mcfarland has authored three books, notably including ‘Revolution: Trump, Washington and ‘We the People,” published in 2020. Her expertise has also led to board service for prominent organizations such as The Jamestown Foundation and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. Kt Mcfarland maintains her status as a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations, underscoring her enduring influence in national security discourse.
