About

Paula Reid was born on August 19, 1982, in Akron, Ohio. She pursued a comprehensive education, earning a Bachelor’s degree with a dual specialization in psychology and English from the College of William & Mary in 2005. Furthering her academic career, she obtained a Juris Doctor from Villanova University School of Law in 2008 and passed the bar exams in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In 2016, she also completed a Master’s in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania. Her background in law and ethics provided a foundation for her subsequent career in journalism.

Reid commenced her journalism career at CBS News, joining the Investigative Unit as an intern in January 2010. By June 2010, she became a production secretary for “CBS Evening News,” a role she held for one year. Between 2011 and 2014, she worked as a digital journalist based in New York. Her career progressed when she relocated to Washington, D.C., in 2014 to cover the Justice Department as a reporter for CBS News. During this period, she reported on significant events such as the 2016 Hillary Clinton email controversy and was present on the ground during the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, when a state of emergency was declared. She also led CBS News’ coverage of the Special Counsel investigation of Robert Mueller and began filling in as a reporter at the White House in 2017.

In April 2019, Reid was officially named the CBS News White House Correspondent. She gained attention for her direct questioning during White House press briefings, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, where she challenged the Trump Administration’s response. In January 2021, CBS announced her move to the network’s Washington office. Shortly thereafter, in March 2021, she joined CNN as a Senior Legal Affairs Correspondent and was subsequently promoted to Chief Legal Affairs Correspondent on October 16, 2023. At CNN, she has covered federal and state investigations into former President Trump and a Special Counsel probe into President Biden, contributing to significant news breaks.
