Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 2, 1985, Kyle Busch was introduced to racing at an early age. His motorsports journey began in 1998, and between 1999 and 2001, he secured over 65 victories in Legends car racing, earning two track championships at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring. In 2001, he successfully transitioned to late model racing, achieving 10 wins at the Bullring. Starting his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series career in 2001 at the age of 16, he drove for Roush Racing and recorded two top-10 finishes. After NASCAR implemented an age restriction of 18 in 2002, Busch competed in the American Speed Association National Tour, finishing eighth in the standings. He also made his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut in 2002.
Busch embarked on his full-time NASCAR Cup Series career in 2005 with Hendrick Motorsports, quickly establishing himself as a significant competitor. He earned two victories as a rookie, becoming one of only six drivers to achieve multiple wins in their inaugural season. His career highlights include two NASCAR Cup Series championships in 2015 and 2019, making him one of only two active multi-time champions. He is recognized as the all-time wins leader in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series with 102 victories and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series with 67 victories. Busch has amassed 232 victories across all three NASCAR national series, holding the record for most wins in a season across the top three series in the modern era with 24 wins in 2010. Furthermore, he is the only driver to have 60 wins in each of NASCAR’s top three series.
Currently, Busch drives the No. 8 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Cup Series. His move to Richard Childress Racing in 2023 marked a new chapter, quickly yielding a victory at Auto Club Speedway, setting an all-time NASCAR record with 19 consecutive seasons with a win. The 2023 season saw him secure two additional wins at Talladega Superspeedway and World Wide Technology Raceway, along with 10 top-five and 17 top-10 finishes, qualifying for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs for the 16th time. Off the track, Kyle Busch is involved in charitable efforts through the Kyle Busch Foundation and co-founded Rowdy Energy, an energy drink company that operated until 2024. He also supports The Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund, which assists families with infertility. Busch is known for his aggressive driving style, earning nicknames such as “Rowdy” and “the Candy Man.” He briefly held the WWE 24/7 Championship in 2019.
