Peter Michael Davidson was born on November 16, 1993, in Staten Island, New York City. His father, Scott Matthew Davidson, a New York City firefighter, died during the September 11th attacks when Pete was seven. This loss profoundly impacted Davidson, leading him to channel his experiences into his comedic work. After attending Xaverian High School, he enrolled at St. Francis College but dropped out to pursue a full-time career in comedy. He first performed stand-up at age sixteen in a Staten Island bowling alley, setting the foundation for his future career.
Davidson began his on-screen career in 2013 with minor guest roles on shows like ‘Failosophy,’ ‘Guy Code,’ and ‘Wild ‘n Out.’ His career trajectory changed significantly when he joined the cast of NBC’s ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2014 at the age of 20, becoming one of the youngest cast members in the show’s history. During his eight seasons on ‘SNL,’ he gained recognition for his unique comedic voice, often incorporating personal anecdotes and self-deprecating humor. His performance on ‘SNL’ led to wider opportunities in film and television.
Beyond ‘SNL,’ Davidson expanded his filmography with notable roles and projects. He executive produced and starred in the 2019 comedy film ‘Big Time Adolescence’ and co-wrote and starred in the semi-autobiographical comedy-drama ‘The King of Staten Island’ in 2020. He has also released three well-received comedy specials: ‘Pete Davidson: SMD’ (2016), ‘Pete Davidson: Alive from New York’ (2020), and ‘Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli’ (2024). In 2023, he co-created, wrote, and starred in the Peacock series ‘Bupkis.’ His film roles include ‘The Suicide Squad’ (2021), ‘Bodies Bodies Bodies’ (2022), ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ (2023), and ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ (2023).
