Kylie Masse is a decorated Canadian swimmer, specializing in backstroke, with multiple Olympic medals and World Aquatics titles to her name. After securing her first senior international gold medal at the 2015 Summer Universiade in Gwangju in the 100m backstroke, Kylie Masse rapidly established herself as one of Canada’s most decorated and successful competitive swimmers. Prior to this breakthrough, Masse had already been recognized for her burgeoning talent, earning the CIS Swimmer of the Year award consecutively in 2015 and 2016. Her dominance in backstroke events quickly translated onto the world stage, notably winning a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in the 100m backstroke, where she also set a new national record.
That same year, she earned a silver in the 100m backstroke at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Windsor. Masse further solidified her standing in the sport by becoming the first Canadian woman to win a swimming world title at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, setting an eight-year-old world record in the 100m backstroke, alongside a bronze in the 4x100m mixed medley. Her success continued at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, earning two gold (100m, 200m backstroke) and two silver medals (50m backstroke, 4x100m medley relay). She also claimed a gold medal at the 2018 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Tokyo for the 100m backstroke.
With a Canadian record of twenty-one medals at World Aquatics short course and long course world championships, Masse is set to compete at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.
