Omar Visintin is an Italian snowboarder who specialises in snowboard cross. At the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, he earned a silver and a bronze medal in the discipline.
When he was six years old, Visintin developed a love for watching snowboarders on the slopes and made the decision that he wanted to focus on that activity and excel at it. He once stated in a writing assignment from elementary school that he wanted to compete in the Olympics. After completing elementary school, he made the decision to enrol in the Winter Sports High School at Malles in the Venosta Valley, because he felt that it would best allow him to combine his love of sports and ambition to become a professional snowboarder with receiving a quality general education.
In March 2008, Visintin made his World Cup debut. He has won two World Cups, with his first being at Montafon in the 2012–13 season. In snowboard cross, Visintin won the 2013–14 World Cup overall. He represented Italy in the 2014 Winter Olympics and placed second in both his 1/8 round and quarterfinal snowboard cross races. He placed 12th overall after failing to complete his semifinal and begin the mini final. At the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, Visintin participated and won a bronze medal in the men’s snowboard cross, as well as a silver in the mixed snowboard team cross.
