Laetitia Casta was born on May 11, 1978, in Pont-Audemer, France, and spent her childhood between Normandy and Corsica. Her modeling career began at age 15 when she was discovered on a beach in Corsica. This led to her signing with Madison Models and appearing in French Elle magazine. In 1993, she became a “Guess? Girl” for a successful advertising campaign. Her career advanced rapidly, becoming a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 1998 to 2000 and appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition for three consecutive years. Casta has graced over 100 fashion magazine covers, including Cosmopolitan and Glamour, and has been a spokesperson for L’Oréal.
Casta’s acting debut was in the French film “Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar” (1999), which was a significant success in Europe. Her acting career continued with a role in the TV movie “The Blue Bicycle” (2000), set during WWII. She received a César Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination for her portrayal of Brigitte Bardot in “Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life” (2010). Her filmography also includes “Arbitrage” (2012) and “A Faithful Man” (2018). In 1999, she was chosen as the model for Marianne, an allegorical symbol of the French Republic, a role that sparked some public debate.
