Ranked one of the ‘most powerful drag queens in America’, Latrice Royale is one of the biggest stars from the RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise. The incomparable star was first introduced to Drag Race fans in 2012, where Royale won over audiences with her witty one-liners, warm persona and memorable performances. Since becoming a break-out star of the show, Royale has released single ‘Weight’ followed by two EPs, performed with world-famous singer Jennifer Hudson at the charity fundraiser CBS Fashion Rocks and appeared in the off-Broadway parody of Sister Act, Mister Act alongside Peaches Christ. She has toured across the United States, Canada and the UK, and appeared in the RuPaul’s Drag Race Holi-slay Spectacular.
Born Timothy Wilcots in California, the young performer first tried drag as a way to make people laugh and smile, dressing up as Wanda from American sketch show In Living Colour. Royale made her drag show debut at Copa Night Club in Florida’s Fort Lauderdale in the mid-1990s.
Royale originally entered the fourth series of RuPaul’s Drag Race as a dare, and her audition video was accepted and she was cast for the show. The season premiered in January 2012, and Royale won the hearts of fans going on to be voted Miss Congeniality. Funny, fierce and brave, Royale’s career hit stratospheric new heights after Drag Race and she has now established herself as one of America’s best-loved drag artists.
