Lautaro Javier Martinez, better known as Lautaro Martinez, is a striker who plays internationally for Argentina and for Inter Milan. He was born in Bahia in 1997, his father Mario Martinez was a professional footballer and encouraged his son to play. He was successful in football trials with Liniers attending coaching there and did well in the U17 category, being signed for Racing Club in 2014 by coach Fabio Radaelli, making his debut as a senior in 2015.
Due to his talent for scoring goals, esteemed clubs started to take an interest in him. In 2018 he was signed for Inter Milan and it was reported that the fee was 22.7 million euros for a five-year contract. With Inter Milan he has played in the UEFA Champions League. He has impressed many with his goal scoring ability and top clubs such as Barcelona have shown an interest in him.
Martinez was selected to play for Argentina as a youth. He was involved in the 2017 South American U-20 Championships and the same year the FIFA U20 World Cup. He became a member of the senior team in 2018 and was played in the 2019 Copa America.
