About

Leah Christine McSweeney was born on August 27, 1982, in Manhattan, New York, and raised in an Irish-Italian family. She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart Catholic all-girls school on the Upper East Side. After being expelled at age 15, her family relocated to Newtown, Connecticut. In 2002, McSweeney was involved in a physical altercation with the New York Police Department, sustaining injuries. The $75,000 settlement she received from this incident was instrumental in funding the launch of her fashion label.

In 2004, Leah McSweeney established Married to the Mob (MTTM), a women’s streetwear brand. Initially, she co-founded the brand, with her partner departing a year later. MTTM gained recognition for its distinctive graphic T-shirts, often incorporating feminist themes. The brand developed a significant presence in the streetwear community, collaborating with various designers and companies. These collaborations contributed to the brand’s visibility and establishment within the fashion industry.

Her career expanded into television with an appearance on ‘The Millionaire Matchmaker’ in 2010. In 2019, McSweeney joined the cast of ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’, a role she held from 2020 to 2021. She also participated in ‘The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip’ in 2023. Beyond fashion and reality television, McSweeney has been involved in other media projects, including co-hosting the podcast ‘Improper Etiquette’ and writing an advice column for ‘Penthouse’ magazine. She launched ‘The Leah McSweeney Show’ podcast in March 2023, featuring interviews with various public figures.
