Leah McSweeny is an American fashion designer, business owner, TV personality and influencer. She was born in 1982 in Manhattan to her family who are from an Irish-Italian background. She first attended the Convent of the Sacret Heart School then moved with her family to Newtown Connecticut. She later moved back to New York and for a time studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
McSweeny is well known for founding the women’s streetwear fashion range ‘Married to the Mob’ in 2004. This was one of the first streetwear brands targeted at women and designed by a woman. She was very successful in organising partnerships with major brands such as Kangol and Nike, helping to establish her brand. With her partner Chanel West she has recently launched LOL Cartel, which is a boutique streetwear brand.
In 2010 she appeared in an episode of Bravo’s ‘The Millionaire Matchmaker’. This was well reviewed and led to other TV appearances.
In 2019 she joined the reality TV show ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’. She was popular on the series and is to appear in a second season. She has made podcasts and contributed to online publications on current issues such as lifestyle, health, breaking the stigma about mental health, motherhood and fashion style. She writes an advice column for magazine ‘Penthouse’.
